Cambodia is situated in the south western part of the Indochina peninsula and lies completely within the tropics. International borders are shared with Thailand and Laos on the West and the North, and Vietnam on the East and Southeast. The country is bordered on the Southeast by the Gulf of Thailand and has a coastline of 435km and extensive mangrove stands, some of which are relatively undisturbed.
The dominant features of the Cambodia landscape are the large, almost generally locatedd, Tonle Sap (Great Lake) and the Bassac River Systems and the Mekong River, which crosses the country from North to South. Surrounding the Central Plains which cover three quarters of the country's area are the more densely forested and sparsely populated highlands.
An ancient empire rediscovered. Long forgotten by the world and closed for decades by political strife, Cambodia has risen, phoenix-like, as one of the region’s most compelling holiday destinations, including the must-see wonder of Asia, Angkor Wat.

Khmer, English, French CLIMATE: The ideal months to be in Cambodia are December and January, when humidity is bearable. From February onwards it starts getting pretty hot, and April is unbearably so. The wet season (from May to October), though very soggy, can be a good time to visit Angkor, as the moats will be full and the foliage lush - but steer clear of the northeast regions during those months, as the going gets pretty tough when the tracks are waterlogged CURRENCY:
